Luxury Destination Wedding in Spain

We first met Laura and Rene at The Four Seasons in Hampshire, where we were working at the beautiful wedding of Paula Rooney Floral Designer. They were guests at the wedding and approached us to ask if we could plan their destination wedding for them. We then enjoyed eighteen months of planning, which ended with the most incredible wedding weekend at a stunning location in Spain.

Guests from around the world received the most beautiful rose gold invitations designed by Angels Creations inviting them to join the happy couple for a weekend of celebrations at Castilla Termal Monasterio de Valbuena a five star converted monastery, situated in a quaint Spanish village in central Spain.

The monastery is surrounded by grapevines and stands tall above the picturesque landscape, it is steeped in history, adjourned with beautiful artwork and intricate carvings, making the most picturesque backdrop for a beautiful destination wedding. We hired the hotel exclusively for the weekend and guests enjoyed three days of celebrating.

The celebrations commenced with a Spanish themed welcome party, overlooking the local vineyard. In contrast to the wedding theme, we chose a vibrant lemon, lime & orange colour palette combining locally sourced fruit with orchids and calla lilies for colourful start to the celebrations.

Spanish music echoed around the venue and sangria flowed, whilst traditional Paella was served alongside the most delicious tapas.

On the wedding morning, Laura’s beautiful bridesmaids joined the bride in her room to get ready, looked after by hair by celebrity hair stylist Lara Zee and Makeup Artist Katie Hayes. Each were dressed in couture gowns from Kirsty Doyle and the groomsmen joined the groom in his suit, all looking fabulous in black tie from Prada.

Laura was a beautiful and very glamorous bride, who wore not one, but two designer wedding dresses – a day gown Galia La hav from Browns Bride and an evening gown from Zuhair Murad from The Wedding Club, London.

Paula Rooney and her team built a bespoke stage in the centre of the court yard and surrounded it with garden flowers. Rows of chairs were set up around the stage so that the couple were surrounded by their guests as they said their vows to each other. The turrets of the monastery walls were dressed with cascading florals, which was an incredible backdrop for the outside ceremony. Large white urns filled with pink and white roses, framed the aisle and Laura was serenaded down the aisle by her favourite singer, Ashanti.

Guests were given personalised L&R sunglasses, monogrammed fans and bottles of ice cold water to ensure they stayed cool in the afternoon sun – no detail was left to chance to ensure that guests enjoyed the Spanish sunshine.

During the Champagne and Canapes reception, guests were wowed by Gloucestershire Magician before a delicious dinner was served in the cloisters. The tables were dressed in the brides favourite colours; shades of pink with gold accessories. On each gold place setting, hired from White House Event Crockery we placed designer favours – Chloe perfume for the ladies and Cartier aftershave for the gentlemen.

A show stopping 9 tier wedding was designed and made by the Queen of cakes, Elizabeth at Elizabeth’s Cake Emporium and placed on a bed on pink hydrangeas. Elizabeth is world-renowned for her delicious cakes, which really do taste as good as they look.

During dinner, MiC LOWRY, a five member vocal harmony boy band from the Brides home town of Liverpool, made a surprise appearance with an acapella set between courses and then returned later in the evening for the evening party following a performance from Ashanti, Ja Rule, and The White Keys as well as an International DJ from Holland, who kept the dance floor filled until the sun began to rise!

The next day, we planned a farewell white party barbeque by the pool to celebrate the end of a wonderful weekend. There was a sushi table, popcorn, ice cream, and DJ from late afternoon until the early hours. Everyone was dressed in white and gold and with more surprise entertainment, the pool party was the perfect end to an incredible wedding weekend.
